FAQ
And if yours is not here, write to us.
What are the pieces made of, and are they safe if I have sensitive ears?+
The flowers are polymer clay, modelled petal by petal and cured in the oven at around 130 °C. Once cured it is stable and inert: it does not shed anything against the skin. Everything that actually touches you is metal chosen for that job, surgical steel posts and hooks and stainless steel chains, so there is no nickel in the findings. Some pieces also carry freshwater pearls, glass beads or a natural agate cabochon, and the product page always says which.
How much do they weigh?+
Very little, and that is the whole point of the material. Cured polymer clay has a density of about 1.2 g per cubic centimetre; brass is 8.5 and silver 10.5, so the same flower in brass would weigh around seven times more. A twelve-flower bib necklace of ours weighs less than a metal pendant of the same size. It is the reason we can make pieces this large without them pulling at your ear or your neck by the end of the day.
How do I look after them?+
One rule covers nearly everything: the jewellery goes on last and comes off first, after the perfume, the hairspray and the cream. The alcohol in perfume and the solvents in hairspray dull the surface of the clay, and that shine does not come back. To clean a piece, use a soft cloth barely damp, no soap, and dry it straight away. To store it, keep pieces from rubbing against each other: a fabric pouch each, or separate compartments in a box. Left in a heap, the petals chip themselves.
Can I wear them in the shower, the sea or the swimming pool?+
Cold water for a short while does nothing at all. Prolonged hot water does: the shower, the sauna, the washing-up. And chlorine attacks the adhesives and the metal findings long before it reaches the flower, so take the piece off before you get into a pool. Salt water is the same idea. If a piece has been splashed, rinse it in fresh water and dry it rather than leaving it to dry on its own.
What do I do if a petal or a flower breaks?+
Write to us with a photograph before you do anything else, however long ago you bought it. Please do not glue it yourself: superglue leaves a white halo on polymer clay that never comes off, and turns an easy repair into a lost piece. Keep the part that came away, however small, because with the original piece the repair is invisible and without it we have to model a new one and the colour never quite matches. A loose petal, a flower off its base, a bent earring hook or a broken clasp can nearly always be mended, usually within a few days. A crushed flower cannot: cured clay does not return to its shape, and the flower has to be made again.
How long will my order take to arrive?+
Pieces from the shop are assembled by hand one order at a time, so yours leaves the workshop within 1 to 3 working days. After that it is 2 to 4 working days to mainland Spain, 3 to 5 to the Balearic Islands, 5 to 8 to the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, 4 to 8 across the European Union and 7 to 15 to the rest of the world. Those times run from the day the parcel leaves, not from the day you ordered, and you get an email with the tracking number as soon as it is on its way.
Do you take custom orders?+
Yes, and they work differently from a piece in the shop. A custom order takes two to three weeks rather than one to three days: the colour usually has to be mixed from scratch and left to rest, and if it involves a flower we have never made, we make two or three practice ones before the real one. Write to us with what you have in mind, a photograph of the flower, the colours and the date you need it for, and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done in time.
Can I return a piece if I change my mind?+
You have 14 calendar days from receiving the order, with no need to give a reason. Write to us quoting your order number and we will confirm the return address. The piece must come back unworn, in its original condition and with its packaging, and the return postage is yours unless the return is down to a fault or a mistake of ours. Earrings are the one exception, and it is a legal one rather than ours: for hygiene reasons they can only be returned unworn and with their original seal or backing card. If you want a different piece, the quickest route is a return plus a new order, so you are not left waiting on something that may sell out meanwhile.
How do I choose the right length or size?+
There is no size to get wrong. The chains on the necklaces and bracelets are adjustable and the rings sit on an adjustable base, so nothing depends on you knowing a measurement in advance. What does help is the measurement of the piece itself, the drop of an earring or the diameter of a flower, and that is written on every product page. For a necklace, the rule that settles most cases is that the necklace and the neckline should not end in the same place: with a V-neck, something short that sits above the point; with bare shoulders, a bib necklace, which is the one time a large piece is not too much; with a polo neck or a jumper, skip the necklace and wear earrings instead.
Why is my piece not exactly like the one in the photograph?+
Because it was made by hand, one at a time. A rose is rolled from the centre outwards, petal by petal, so no two close in quite the same way, and colours mixed by hand vary slightly from batch to batch. Pieces with natural stone go further still: the veining in an agate is different in every ring and we cannot make it otherwise. Small differences of tone, texture or finish are the mark of the work rather than a fault.
Do you make sold-out pieces again?+
Not always. The colours do not come out of a pot: they are mixed by hand from base blocks, in enough quantity for one batch of pieces. When that clay runs out the next mix is close but not identical, so rather than send you a shade that is not the one in the photograph we either retire the piece or bring it back as a new version with photographs of its own. If you have your eye on something that has sold out, write to us and we will tell you which of the two it is going to be.
How does the parcel arrive, and can I send it straight to someone as a gift?+
Every order travels in a rigid box with the pieces held so the flowers cannot rub against each other or against the lid, for the same reason we ask you to store them apart. If it is a gift, tell us when you order and we will send it with no printed price inside; your receipt goes to your email instead. We can also send it straight to the other person: put their address as the delivery address and yours as the billing one.
