Why some pieces never come back
It's not manufactured scarcity. It's that once a colour batch runs out, that colour is gone.
Colours don't come out of a tub. I mix them from base blocks, by eye, in enough quantity for one batch of pieces. When that batch runs out, I have to mix again.
The second mix is similar. It's not identical. If I put both versions side by side on the site, someone would receive a shade that doesn't match the photo, and they'd be right to complain.
So when a piece sells out I have two options: mix again and list it as a new version, with a new photo, or retire it. Sometimes I do the first, sometimes the second, depending on how close the match turned out.
What I don't do is keep the old listing with the old photo and send something else.
I know it's frustrating when someone wants to repeat a gift. I'd rather say so plainly than pretend I have a permanent catalogue I don't. What's available is what genuinely exists.
