How to care for your flower jewellery
Three things ruin them: perfume, hot water and piling them up together. All three take ten seconds to avoid.
The most important rule is also the easiest one: jewellery goes on last and comes off first. After perfume, after hairspray, after moisturiser.
The alcohol in perfume and the solvents in hairspray attack the surface of the clay and dull its shine. They don't break it, they just flatten it, and there's no way to bring back the original finish.
Water on its own does nothing if it's cold and brief, but prolonged hot water does: the shower, the sauna, the dishwasher. And chlorine from the pool attacks the adhesives and metal fastenings before it touches the flower.
For storage, the only thing that matters is that pieces don't rub against each other. A small fabric pouch per piece, or the compartments of a jewellery box. Piled together in a drawer, the petals chip themselves.
And if a piece gets dirty: a soft cloth, barely damp, no soap, dried straightaway.
